Damian Ramis – Rooster
Rooster is a sculpture done in the contemporary style by artist and sculptor Damian Ramis from Mallorca, Spain. It is made of plaster and is covered in comics with a shiny finish and is a part of the Aviary series which was launched in 2019 at Galería MA Arte contemporáneo in Palma de Mallorca.
“The rooster is displayed defiantly and proudly in this powerful sculpture that is planted solidly on the ground showing off its vigorous volumes. In this work I worked intensely on the combination of white, gray and black comic paper to achieve a spectacular movement of shapes and gradients.”

Aviary Series
With birds as the sole theme, the Aviarium series started from the idea of using comic paper as the final patina of each work. Based on the initial modeling of each bird, using metal, plaster and glue, the final process of each work consisted of a laborious work of combining bright colors and halftones of the comic paper and, as if it were an ancient mosaic, transfusing life and intensity to each of the birds.
