Enrique Tabara – These Boots are made for Walking
These Boots are made for Walking was created as a part of the Fashion Art project by Ecuadorian painter Enrique Tabara, and fashion designer Manu Fernandez. It is inspired by one of Tabara’s most recognized works, the series “Pata patas”, a collection of paintings that incorporate legs, legs with shoes and pants with shoes.
Tábara tells the story that one day he was drawing a figure but he didn’t like it, so he broke it and the figure’s feet fell at his feet, and that became the influence for his greatest work.
Fashion Art was created by Manuel Fernandez, it is a collaboration between visual artists and fashion designers in which their respective languages are combined to create a dress that is an authentic work of art. It is a project that is in constant evolution, where the fusion of Art and Fashion takes place in the eye of the spectator with the artists’ work taking center stage and the dress as the underlying canvas it is displayed on.
Enrique Tábara
Luis Enrique Tábara Zerna was a master of Ecuadorian painting and represented the Hispanic pictorial and artistic culture as a whole in his work. He became interested in painting at the early age of three and was drawing regularly by the age of six. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Guayaquil where he was influenced by Hans Michelson who instilled in him discipline to work, and Martínez Serrano, who showed him the importance of forms. He was a creator who demystified the images in which he took refuge. A master of experimentation, he embraced his roots which can be seen in the many works that he gave to the world.
Manuel Fernández
Manuel Fernández has worked in the world of fashion since 1983. His approach is avant-garde, with touches of idealism combined with a cosmopolitan flair, and he has always been committed to the internationalization of his designs. His designs are bold, daring, sensual, elegant and have a touch of humour.
