Monument of General Jose de San Martin
The Monument of General Jose de San Martin is located in the Parque del Oeste, Madrid Spain. The statue was given to the city of Madrid by Atina and is hidden in a secluded section of the park.
The statue is a replica of the original which is located in the Plaza de San Martín in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was made by the famous French sculptor Louis-Joseph Daumas. The reliefs located on the sides of the pedestal are: “The Cavalry Charge of the Battle of Bailén”, by Agustín de la Herrán and “The Paso de los Andes” which was by Perlotti. The pedestal at the base of the sculpture was made by Herrero Palacios
