Irene Lopez Leon – Pantone

Pantone is a sculpture that was created as a part of the Fashion Art project by Spanish painter Irene Lopez Leon, and designer Manu Fernandez. A fusion of fashion and art, it brings the pantone colors to life in a new and powerful way combining a simple elegant dress with a soft geometric palette.

Irene discovered her passion for painting by chance, while traveling as a backpacker to see the world. To help pay her way she took on a job working as a broad-brush painter at a construction project for a Hostel in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

”While I was cleaning walls and putting putty in cracks, another girl next to me was painting the most  incredible murals, so instead of breaking my back, I decided to change the roller for the paintbrush and discovered what I love most in the world. Since then, I have never stopped.”

Fashion Art by Manuel Fernandez is a collaboration between visual artists and fashion designers, in which their respective languages are combined to create a dress that is an authentic work of art. It is a project that is in constant evolution, where the fusion of Art and Fashion takes place in the eye of the spectator with the artists’ work taking center stage and the dress as the underlying canvas it is displayed on.

Irene Lopez Leon

Irene is a Barcelona-native Spanish contemporary artist well-known for her thought-provoking and visually striking pieces. She grew up in the outskirts of the city at a time when the world of arts and creativity was only for “hippies” and “starving artists.” It was a job that was too risky for someone from a working-class immigrant family. Despite advice on “how to survive in the world as a woman,” she was always passionate about creating things with her hands, something she embraced and has never stopped doing.

Manuel Fernández

Manuel Fernández has worked in the world of fashion since 1983. His approach is avant-garde, with touches of idealism combined with a cosmopolitan flair, and he has always been committed to the internationalization of his designs. His designs are bold, daring, sensual, elegant and have a touch of humour.
