Chinese Foo Dog, Yokohama Japan
A statue of a golden Chinese Foo dog, located in Japan in Yokohama’s Chinatown near the Masobyo Temple, a temple of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu. Foo dogs are actually lions yet they resemble the Chow Chow and Shih Tzu which has led them to be called foo dogs. These guardian lions can be found standing sentry in front of palaces, temples, and the homes of the elite.
